My story
I’m Ieva Rudzite, a Latvian-born artist living and working in rural Norway. Nordic Duck grew from my lifelong love of drawing and my fascination with historical art, old interiors, botanical forms, animals and the beauty of the natural world that surrounds me.
With a background in theology and a deep love for the old world, I have always been drawn to things that carry history — old houses, textiles, objects, paintings and the small imperfections left by time. Living in the Norwegian countryside has only deepened this connection to nature, history and a slower way of creating.
I draw mostly by hand, using ink and watercolor to create motifs that keep a sense of character and the slight imperfections of real drawing. I’m not interested in chasing trends. I want to create patterns that feel as though they could have been collected over time — expressive, distinctive and at home in lived-in spaces.
Today, Nordic Duck has become a growing body of work where botanical studies, animals, folk art, ornament and heritage influences come together through my own visual language. My designs are available internationally through selected wallpaper and textile partners, and I work with brands, manufacturers and interior professionals through licensing and bespoke collaborations.
